Triple Wave – a long-term solution against unwanted hair growth
Triple Wave is a laser treatment that uses three wavelengths to specifically target hair follicles at different depths.
The treatment gradually and permanently reduces unwanted hair growth and can also decrease ingrown hairs and razor irritation.
It is suitable for most areas of the body and is adjusted according to skin type, hair color, and treatment area.
About Triple Wave permanent hair removal
How does Triple Wave work?
Triple Wave uses three wavelengths, 755, 808, and 1064 nm, in the same treatment head. The wavelengths penetrate to different depths in the skin, allowing the treatment to work on hair follicles at various depths.
The laser light targets the pigment in the hair and converts into heat, which affects the hair follicle. Over time, hair grows slower, becomes finer, and less noticeable.
The treatment works best on hair containing pigment. Therefore, it generally has little to no effect on completely white, gray, or very light hair.
What are the main benefits of Triple Wave?
The treatment may be suitable when the goal is to:
- permanently reduce unwanted hair growth,
- reduce the need for shaving and waxing,
- combat ingrown hairs,
- reduce irritation after shaving,
- achieve smoother and more even skin,
- treat both small and large areas.
Common treatment areas include the face, armpits, bikini line, legs, back, chest, and arms.
The treatment can also be a good solution for those who often experience red skin, rashes, or discomfort after traditional hair removal methods.
Is the treatment permanent?
Laser treatment can provide long-lasting and significant reduction in hair growth. However, it is not possible to promise that every single hair will disappear completely and permanently.
Some hairs may return over time, but they are often lighter, finer, and fewer than before. Hormonal changes, age, and certain medications can also affect new hair growth.
After a course of treatment, maintenance treatment may therefore be needed from time to time.
How often do I need to come?
Hair grows in several stages, and the laser is most effective on hairs in their active growth phase. Since not all hairs are in the same growth stage at the same time, more than one treatment is necessary.
It is common to recommend:
- Around six to eight initial treatments
- Four to eight weeks between appointments
- Maintenance treatments as needed
The frequency depends on the treatment area. For example, facial hair grows faster than leg hair, so the time between initial appointments may be shorter.
Results are individual and depend on factors such as hair color, hair thickness, skin type, hormones, and consistent attendance.
How to prepare?
Shave the area beforehand according to the therapist's instructions. The hairs should be short, but the hair follicle needs to be present for the laser to work with it.
Avoid:
- Waxing, plucking, or using an epilator for several weeks before treatment,
- Sunbathing or using a sunbed before your appointment,
- Applying self-tanner to the treatment area,
- Applying strong chemicals to the area just before treatment.
Also, inform your therapist about all medications, skin treatments, and changes in your health.
What do I need to keep in mind after the appointment?
The skin may be slightly red, warm, or sensitive after treatment. This is normal and usually subsides quickly.
After the session, it is good to:
- Cool the skin if necessary,
- Use mild and moisturizing skincare products,
- Avoid very hot baths, steam, and strenuous exercise on the same day,
- Protect the area well from the sun,
- Use sunscreen on exposed areas.
The hairs do not fall out immediately. They gradually detach from the hair follicles over the next few days or weeks.
When is the treatment not suitable?
Triple Wave is generally not performed:
- During pregnancy,
- Over open wounds, infections, or active skin rashes,
- On sunburned or recently tanned skin,
- Over tattoos,
- Near the eyes or on the eyebrows,
- On areas where the skin is unusually sensitive or damaged.
Some medications, including those that increase skin photosensitivity, can affect whether the treatment is safe to perform. Recent use of strong topical medications, previous reactions to laser treatments, and underlying skin conditions must also be disclosed.
If in doubt, it is best to contact us before booking an appointment.
